Playing The Sims Freeplay: The Road to Fame Quest

So, if you are playing the Sims Freeplay and you have finished quests like “Coming of Age” and “Higher Education”, you will then come across the quest “The Road To Fame”. I choose to write about this quest because this quest has an additional reward if you finish it on time.

Here are the tasks that needs to be accomplished in time to get the additional reward.

1. Buy a stack of magazines

The stack of magazines can be found in the “Living Room” section of Furniture-Buy Mode.

2.  Have a Teenager read ‘Teen Celebrity’ magazine.

Only Teens can read the Teen Celebrity Magazine. Not adults, nor preteens.

3.  Have a Teenager watch Funny Cat Video

It will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish this task. (I forgot to take note how long to do other tasks. sorry)

4. Send a Teenager to the Park

5. Have a Teen Formulate Plan on How to Become Famous

Wow! A blackboard suddenly appeared in the middle of the park! Time to make use of it!

6. Buy a Keyboard

You can find this instrument in the Teen Section of Furniture-Buy Mode. The cheap 1-star instrument costs 650 simoleons, and will take your teen 1 hour to write 1 song. The standard 2-star costs 5LPs and will take 45 minutes per song. And the expensive 3-star costs 10LPs  will take your teen 30 minutes per song.

7. Have a teen write a music

Now tap the keyboard you just bought and your Teen can now start his way to being an idol! After this task, a note will appear, this will be your first piece.

8. Write 3 Pieces of music

I thought that this means my teen needs to play the keyboard 3 times. But like other hobbies, the teen needs to play/write a song to produce a ‘note/piece of music’. Sometimes you might get the notes you already have. The first one you got already count so you only need two more. It means, you need to complete the first row in the Teen Idol Hobby. Only one teen can do this hobby, because there can only be one Idol!

9. Write 6 Pieces of Music

After completing the first row of music, you unlock the Bass Guitar. Again, you need to buy from the home store or the ‘Promotions ‘r’ Us’. Same with the keyboard the prices are 650 simoleons, 5 LP and 10 LP. The more expensive the instrument, the faster your teen can write music. As for the bass guitar, the cheap one will take your teen 2 hours per song, the 5-LP for 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the 10 LP for 1 hour.

10. Write 9 Pieces of Music

After you completed the second row for this hobby, you will unlock the Drum Set. Your teen will take 3 hours per song if you use the cheap set, 2 hours and 15 minutes for the standard, and 1 hour and 30 minutes for the expensive 10-LP set.

11. Write 12 Pieces of Music

After completing the 3^rd row of musical notes, you will be able to buy an electric guitar. 1-star guitar will take 4 hours per song, 2-star guitar 3 hours, and 3-star 2 hours. The more expensive, the faster your sim can write music!

12. Write 15 Pieces of Music

And the last task but the time consuming one. Your teen will have to sing on the microphone. 1-Star Mic for 650 Simoleons take 5 hours per song, 2-star for 5 LPs take 4 hours per song and the expensive 10 LP-microphone will take 3 hours per song.

What I did in this quest is to buy the cheapest keyboard , bass guitar, drum set and electric guitar. I bought the expensive 10 LP microphone. Because as you can see, the latter instruments need more time to complete a single song/piece. I allotted 24 hours per instrument, meaning additional 3 piece of music/notes per day or lesser. I would sometimes use LP if the teen’s remaining time of playing the instrument is 1:59 hours (which cost 1 LP).  So calculating my remaining time and the time of action per instrument I had, I was able to finish the quest within the time limit. I just make sure that the teen is always inspired, I even give him breaktime from playing if I get the same notes after another. And yes, it is attainable! Just don’t lose hope!

Well, some say that the additional reward for completing the task within the time limit is useless. Well maybe it is if you already bought the ‘expensive’ instruments that costs 10 LPs. But for others who bought the cheap or standard set of instruments, it is still useful since you will have to start this hobby over and over again. The additional reward is the Premium Package of the instruments. They are free, and not just free once. You can have as many instruments you want for they will be forever free in the store. But then again, there’s no use having too many sets of these because there can only be one Teen Idol. Maybe for display. Haha! And they cost nothing if you try to sell it, so no extra simoleons.

Once the quest is completed you will now be able to build the Famous Sim Town Sign. Building it is just like building the Riches of Terra and other monuments in Mystery Island. To get the Town Sign to Level 1 you need 5 of each resources, the TV Show Cameo, Radio Interview and Magazine Photoshoot. You can get these by doing random actions which happens very rare, and by starting the TV Idol career over again. Building the Famous Sim Town Sign to Level 3 unlocks the Teen Idol Mansion. I just don't know if it is free or just unlockable like the Houseboats in the Mystery Island. (Will update as soon as I got it!)

There you have it. This quest is really time consuming. You need to be almost playing every hour if you want to finish it within the time limit, but if you bought the instruments that costs 10LP each, there is no need to hurry. Just enjoy playing!

According to this, only famous teen idols can live here. IDOLS! It's plural, maybe there can be many teen idols! Will update as soon as I have many teenagers and if the game itself changes.
